FAQs: Skincare for Acne-Prone Skin

Acne is a frustrating, often relentless skin condition that can take a serious toll on your self-esteem. Although acne is typically associated with teenagers, many people struggle with acne well into adulthood.

Since June is Acne Awareness Month, we'd like to shed light on ways to manage, prevent, and treat acne. Our expert aesthetician Wendy Onek shares advice and tips for treating and preventing acne in this post!

What is THE BEST SPA treatment for acne?

The Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial using the Clarity serum is my favorite acne treatment that we offer. The oxygen helps drive an antibacterial serum deep into the skin to fight the bacteria that is causing breakouts before it even reaches the surface of your skin.

What sets this treatment apart from many other acne treatments is that its hydrating! So many acne treatments strip the skin, but the Oxygen Facial puts much needed hydration and antioxidants back into your skin while fighting breakouts at the same time.

What are some products I can use at home to treat my acne?

The Intraceuticals entire Clarity line is great for anyone suffering from acne. Complete with a cleanser, treatment gel, and a spot treatment wand (with disposable tips so that you don't spread infection!). We sell the entire line at our spa!

SkinCeuticals also has a serum called Blemish & Age Defense which is the perfect treatment for adult acne. It can be easily added to your current skincare regimen after cleansing and before moisturizer. You can get it at our spa!

What are some cleansing tips for people with acne?

Make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly before starting your cleansing routine. Perform a "double cleanse" which is when you cleanse your skin completely rinse, and then cleanse again to make sure that you are removing everything (makeup, etc). Use a clean towel to dry your face afterwards.

Does acne mean I'm not cleaning my face well enough?

No! People can suffer from acne for all kinds of reasons. For most people, it's a combination of diet, hormones, lifestyle habits, and even hygiene - like not washing their pillowcase enough. Our aestheticians can help go over details that you may be missing to try and find the cause and solution to your acne problems.
